Emergency Planning and Continuity Management

Schools Resilience

Does your school have robust emergency and business continuity plans in place to ensure that, when things go wrong, you’re prepared to respond effectively and recover quickly?

Our in-house Resilience Service provides Buckinghamshire Council with trusted support in emergency management and business continuity. As a reliable partner in times of need, we offer reassurance, expertise, and rapid response to help the Council navigate challenges with confidence.

We offer a range of Emergency Planning (EP) and Business Continuity Management (BCM) templates, along with voice-over guides to help staff plan for and respond to emergencies. These resources ensure clear instructions and preparedness for any situation. We also provide support in designing plans and delivering bespoke training and exercises.

Our Services

Business Continuity Management: Service Impact Assessments (SIA)

Our template helps you evaluate specific incidents and their impact on your schools, outlining actions needed to deliver a 'skeleton' service. A collection of these forms a Business Continuity Plan (BCP).

Our voice-over guide offers an overview of the importance of being prepared and having a recognised response process in place.

Business Continuity Management: Service Incident Action Card

A BCM incident action card is tailored to each school and provides guidance for staff who may not have access to the Service SIAs. Our template serves as a reference if communication is disrupted, ensuring everyone knows their role in invoking SIAs.

Our voice-over guide offers an overview of the importance of being prepared and having a recognised response process in place.

Emergency Planning

An Emergency Management Plan documents procedures for handling emergencies at school, during off-site activities, or involving home-to-school transport. Examples include:

  • Incidents involving emergency services (e.g. road/rail collision)
  • School closures (excluding weather-related, unless significant damage occurs)
  • Incidents attracting adverse media attention
  • Significant injury to a student on a trip

The plan aims to mitigate the impact on the school community. It also outlines the response and recovery process.
