Health and Safety
Our health and safety team provides comprehensive advice and support to help you to fulfill your legal duties. The team has wide experience of dealing with all health and safety matters in all types of schools. You will also have access to dedicated health and safety advisors with many years in the education sector.

- Safety Policies and Procedures
- Model checklists and templates
- Advice and support during standard working hours
- Unlimited use of AssessNet reporting system for recording accidents, incidents, and near misses
- Investigation of serious accidents/incidents or those resulting in an insurance claim
- A Health and Safety Audit every 3 years
Audits
Our service includes a comprehensive Health and Safety Audit every 3 years. Where your audit is classed as ‘cause for concern’ or ‘requires improvement’, we will provide a post-audit visit to discuss your needs and requirements.
Radiation Protection Package - (Academy secondary schools with radiation sources only)
- An annual retainer of a Radiation Adviser (statutory appointment for schools where radioactive sources are held)
- Provision of radiation advice including annual audit visit and phone advice which will enable the academy to fulfill the requirements of the Ionising Radiation Regulations.

- Working at Height
We offer 'check and chats' to new Headteachers to Buckinghamshire Council free of charge.
The purpose of this is to advise on:
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
- Fire Risks
- Housekeeping
- Manual Handling Risks
- Personal Safety Risks
- Risk Assessments for job roles and site/premises
- Training in general
A number of courses can be run on request for an academy school or group of schools on their premises such as
- COSHH Course – 2.5 hours
- Risk assessment – 2 hours
- Supporting Pupils with Medical Conditions (previously known as Managing Medicines in Schools) – 2 hours Manual Handling (Objects) – 2 hours

Assessnet (Accident reporting tool)
We supply an accident reporting tool, following any serious incident (certainly where an investigation has resulted in an insurance claim. Our team will look up information supplied via Assessnet and provide full support to your school as required.
