Energy

We are a dedicated team with several responsibilities within the council:

  • Organising the Buckinghamshire Council Energy Contract for both our corporate estate and schools, and external partners.
  • Managing the Buckinghamshire Council Energy Contract, including any billing issue resolution, meter issues, and supplier problems.
  • Organising the billing for the Buckinghamshire Council Energy Contract
  • Organising and managing renewable energy installations for the council and some schools, including biomass boilers and solar PV.

The Council’s energy contracts allow multiple organisations, including schools and external partners (parish councils, youth centres, community libraries), to combine their energy consumption. This approach provides access to more competitive tariffs and a flexible purchasing contract, which is typically available only in the commercial energy supply market.

Support

Opting in provides access to expert support and advice from the Council and Equity Energies, removing the hassle of procuring, mobilising, and managing your energy.

Procurement

The contract uses an approved procurement route, scrutinised by procurement professionals, ensuring compliance with procurement rules and thresholds.

Price Risk

A flexible contract reduces risk by making multiple smaller purchases over time, rather than assuming a single day is the best time to purchase all energy at a fixed price.

Services

Support includes changes in tenancy requirements, site objections, meter readings, and meter additions/removals.

Billing & Budget Support

Multiple checks within each billing cycle ensure accuracy, with assistance for issue resolution and regular budgets and forecasts for financial planning.
