This training will present evidence-based research on the development of reading, including word recognition and comprehension. This event is led by the Cognition and Learning Specialist Teachers and is aimed at primary and secondary SENCos, teachers, learning support assistants and those with an interest in literacy development. Training material will be provided during the event and post event.

• Learnabout the Simple View of Reading and the Active View of Reading models and consider the range of skills needed for reading.
• Understand why learners may struggle to decode or comprehend.
• Explore strategies to support pupils with reading and comprehension difficulties.
• Have opportunities to network and share good practice.
